Re: serenade to lovat blue kilt hose
This image is actually the genesis of this thread idea for me. I had been reading up a lot, cold weather = internet time for me. While the ordinary tone here is gentle and encouraging, I hereby accept Steve's challenge to provide pictures instead of reams of text.
This is another very simple kilted look that I think looks fine. It is also easy. Besides my tank I am wearing a homemade sporran, $27 "standard" hose in lovat blue from the Scottish Tartans Museum, a black T-shirt that came to me free over the glass at a hockey game, a very common solid navy blue sweater (already in my closet), black shoes; and bright red garter ties, also from STM, I think $24 and not actually required to pull off this look.
Would this look "better" or "erudite" if I added a contrasting collared shirt and third color tie? Likely, yes. Would it be less accessible to folks looking to buy their first pair of hose in a color other than ecru? Likely, yes.
I received, in my tiny very pragmatic hometown, more compliments in just a few hours as pictured than I have received in the last year occasionaly kilted. Non-kilted Americans can relate to this:
