Okay, well, she ended up going into my line of work and was also employed by the same executive/dignitary protection firm for a while. And in the midst of an operation she dropped her cellphone into the water.

At least she didn't flush. And she did still have her radio, but that limited her strictly to short-range communication with the others in her team.
Ouch....

I managed to dig up an old cellphone and switched service back to that for now, so I am no longer incommunicado until I figure out whether or not my newer, shinier phone can be saved.
