Well since a Burns Supper wasn't on the cards this year, I figured I'd check out some music as a condolence...

Lots of fiddle and accordian (typical ceilidh fare from Jimmy Shand etc) some Ron Gonnella playing Neil Gow, and rediscovered some bothy ballads with Jimmy MacBeath (pronounced Macbeth) on Come A' Ye Tramps and Hawkers.

Definitely recommened listening... But listen to it a few times in order to appreciate it... and extra points if you can actually understand the words...

Hamish Henderson noted that the 1951 People's Ceilidh was the first time MacBeath sang Tramps & Hawkers on stage.

It would have been something to have been there that night to see and hear Henderson, Alan Lomax, John Burgess, MacBeath, et al.

Burns would have been proud of your choice!
