I have to go with my Grandfather on this one. I think kilts are strictly a male garment. A kilted skirt designed for women is still cool. I think that blurring this line makes it slightly harder on men in kilts. Sure kilts are in a basic sense a kind of "skirt" anyways, but the "if you wear it like a man" saying can only go so far. If you see more women in traditional style kilts it would definitely be harder to dodge "nice skirt" comments and odd looks. Sure they really don't bother you that much, but ignorance at a certain level bothers everyone. In my opinion leave kilts to men and other skirt-like fashions to women.

Why would you be worried about someone going regimental on your furniture? Don't these people know how to sweep their pleats? Whatever bare skin that's normally under my kilt never comes into contact with the outside world. Sure, if it's really windy, take proper precautions.
