Some excellent observtions/deductions

2. Could the top and bottom edges have been turned under slightly before the overcast stitch was used? Based on personal experience, doing a such a tight and narrow overcast so close to a raw edge generally has the stitching pulling away from the fabric, but I don't see any of that in the pic. They don't appear to be ut there is the possibility.

3. High on my success for finding worsted singles in the January specimen, I'd like to say that I can see that on this tartan, but the left edge is too blurred. And, based on the threads coming away from the tartan in the top right, seem to suggest otherwise, but again, too blurry to say for sure. My imge is a little too small too to be sure but it looks as thought the threads on the right are singles.

4. The wide red stripe on the left may be the pivot for the sett?
YYGGRRR^RRRGGYYWBBWYYGGGGGGWWRRWRRWWG It may indeed although with such a small specimen it is difficult to be certain. However, if it is then what about the other pivot?
