Imagine how cool many threads would be if the conversation were not restricted to the kilt, the whole kilt, and nothing but the kilt?

Yeah, the Goodwins on my side cleared out of the Murphy area along with some Murphys around 1850. Nobody says why. They went on down to NW LA and NE Texas borderlands- no doubt to gain obscurity.
Uummm... The Goodwin part of my family is from Louisiana.
We might should take a closer look at this, Mark.
And on the topic of beards from the '60's, there are only 5 "Goodwin Boys" left in my family (that's including me, even though I don't carry the name, because I look and act like them), one being my Grandmother's brother (who worked on the Manhattan Project, during the war), and his three sons (two of which are Doctors- an MD and a Chemist). I'm the only one of the five whose beard doesn't date back to the '60's, and if I had been alive back then, mine probably would too.

We need to keep this thread going, as long as possible.

Hehehehehehehe.
OK, before we go off-forum and name names that are better keep off the radar, here are my LA hotspots:
Cotton Valley, Minden, Princeton, Sibley, Dubberly, Doyline.
My people were not big city people. They were dirt-poor sharecroppers until the ammo plant was built to supply the WWII effort. Then they became dirt-poor ammo-makers.
Some day I must write a little book on what their lives were like. In a way, if I had not grown up in it, I would possibly not understand, and almost certainly not appreciate, the fact that my folks made their living picking cotton and selling it on shares. They supplemented their income selling milk (they had a COW: and sold sweet milk for 10 cents a gallon, clabbered milk sold for 5 cents a gallon). This day and age you can sit on your litterally fat, ignorant, lazy, buttocks and collect $32,000 in "benefits" and "entitlements", and you don't have to lift a finger. As a matter of fact, you are told "Do not lift a finger or else your benefits will be imperiled." Simply criminal.
Guys, I do pray that some dipweed doesn't start shreeking and wetting their kilt "Off topic! Off topic!" Or, "I am offended by the truth." But all-in-all, the contributors to this forum are a great bunch of men and women with a great sense of humor, and I just don't think anybody will squawk.
I would change the thread title to "Tyger's New Ryan Ross Bonnet, and the Lives and Times That It Has Lived In."; however, I cannot do that (despite trying).
If you don't like the topic, don't tune in. Take it easy, and have a good time.
Topics morph.

I'd love to talk colors with you, any time. If you're in the market for something custom, that should be no problem, either. Drop me a PM, if you'd like to.

Indeed, we don't want to give too much away out here in the fresh air, where the lookie-loos abound.
My grandmother's grandparents lived in NOLA, but before that, we have no idea. We can dig deeper, in more secure venues.
A heads up: we will not allow any dipweed to start shreeking and wetting their kilt " Off topic, off topic." If you don't like the topic, don't tune in.
You got that right, Sir!

David... have you ever grown a beard? Seems like you could come up with a good one.

However, do not ever doubt the fact that we are true Southerners, much less raise our ire by suggesting it ( ). David was only being polite, and Southerners are well known for this trait. The most Southern of Southerners can be quite adamant about their politeness, and that irks the rest of us Southerners to no end.
Besides, every true Southerner knows that y'all (see above) is singular, and all y'all is pleural, so you need to address us properly, and we will return the favor, kindly.
Bless your little heart. I am lovin' it.

^^^
What Mark said, far better than I could! He, after all, has more than twice as much experience as I do at being a Southerner.
And of course, David is quite correct, also, and none of us would expect anything less.
