It does take some getting used to for people who've worn bifurcated garments all their lives, and at first it feels weird to have the waist that high and you just KNOW it has to look ridiculous too.
But it doesn't, really. I generally wear mine a teeny bit higher than yours but still lower than Rocky's recommendation, at about one inch and a smidgen above the navel. It's just enough that no shirt fabric shows at the waist if I'm "going native" and wearing a waistcoat & argyle jacket.
