Welcome, Giraffe! I guess I can't add anything about the belt problem that hasn't already been said, but don't fret - we're quite a creative group! Someone will come through with an answer to your question!

Thank you for all of the advice. The kilt does not have loops for the belt so I will try both letting the belt out and taking it in.
I'm so excited about the kilts. I have wanted to wear a kilt for many years however was quite overweight and always told myself that I would do so when I lost some weight. I finally got serious last summer and have lost 102 pounds (went from 278 to 176) over the last 9 months. Thus it was time to acquire the kilts.
Thanks again.

102 lbs? Holy Crapolla. I thought I was doing good for losing 40 (260-220). You have my admiration Giraffe.

Giraffe,
It may not be your kilt that is the problem rather it is the adjustment to the new body shape and how your clothes hang/fit.

Giraffe, well done on your wieght loss. That is a massive number of pound to shed in such a short period of time. I bet you are feeling pretty good about yourself now and what better way to reward yourself than to get into a Kilt. I wish you good luck in keeping the weight off. Good eating and working out make your body feel good and look good. Again, well done you!!

Weight loss was achieved through a combination of exercise, carb control and, most importantly, smaller food portion size. The portion control was the most difficult because most Americans are used to "super-sizing" their food, and most restaurants provide way too much food in the meals. For example, for those of you familiar with the Olive Garden italian food restaurants in the US; the spaghetti meal served by the Olive Garden has the equivalent of 15 recommended portions of spaghetti. Basically, 1 portion of spaghetti should fit in the palm of your hand.
It has been difficult giving up eating the large portion sizes, but has been well worth it. I have also given up drinking soda pop, although I do continue to consume a half pint of Guinness every now and then.

Giraffe, you hit that one on the head. The biggest part of it is to back away from the buffett. We're conditioned from childhood to eat too much. "Eat everything on your plate. There are children starving in <pick your country>. That carries over into adult eating habits. I remember once when I was a kid when mom handed me that line I suggested she pack up the extra and send it to em. Gramps gave me a helluva cuff upside the head. <G>
