Re: Why the cooling off corner?
Read Through the rules again, Of note is rule #6 which should be read by anyone who wants to complain to the moderators. I believe the rules we all agreed to need following even in registering a complaint. Continued rule breaking is grounds for expulsion.

*scratches head*
That was a fun thread. It went away?
Geesh
Where's Thorina? I think she and I need a kilt night of our own.
We need a Lebowski pub.

Re: Why the cooling off corner?
Sorry, still thinking of a fair way to keep good discussions from being cut off in the middle. I get soured on this site every time it happens.
How about baseballs three strikes, your out! Three rule breaks and you are gone. Three complaints that in themselves are a rule break or are found to be frivolous and you are out.
This would really help the moderator panels as it takes a lot of their time to handle these and only a small percentage are out of bounds.

If this site is about the kilt and what's worn with it then why get upset about discussing what's under it? For goodness' sake, we've had talks about "body glide". That's a disturbing image if ever there was one and that passed through ok.

What's a body glide?
Seriously, I am that naive and ignorant of these things. I just barely learned what kilt checks were by the last thread.

Body Glide is an anti-chafing product that is made to be applied between the upper thighs, or wherever there is a chafing/rubbing issue. Now they're trying to market it to people with chafing issues on their feet/shoes. When wearing a kilt, sometimes chafe can be a problem and Body Glide helps. There is apparently now a "Body Glide for Her" version, which probably smells different.
Basically, it's leg grease.
I actually used to wear it when I ran a lot, as I have thick thighs, and they'd rub. After 10K, it gets to be a little painful. Nowadays I don't run, and workout shorts have gotten longer, so it's not an issue for me. I take a stick when I go backpacking, though.

I, for one, was very glad to see this thread appear.

I like the sound of that, have a feeling that many others do/would too, and hope the moderation will take a look at the idea.

Body Glide is a product that inhibits chafing.

Re: Why the cooling off corner?
Well, you get the occasional blue-nose now and then...that topic does come up a lot...should be discussed and kidded about because everybody needs to get the perspective to deal with it....when you're newly kilted, it seems dramatic but when you hear some of the others' stories, it gets placed in perspective.
We had one member who insisted that his kids were reading the forum...hard for me to believe and I always figger that we're all grown ups here.
I'm all for many of the restrictions on subject matter - particularly when it gets political - but something like this just seems....wait a minnit....shhhhhh! I think somebody's listening in.....

Re: Why the cooling off corner?
Thanks guys.
I was a little confused there for a moment, thinking, "What have I seriously missed?" ;)
Well, the body glide makes sense. I don't understand how talking about physiological/medical problems was an issue, nor do I see the problem in men venting their concerns about kilt checks and feeling violated by them.

Re: Why the cooling off corner?
I can't believe that I have come this far and never had heard of body glide. I learn something every day.
I think of this as a family-friendly forum. Remember that we have school-age people here and we set an example for them - both in terms of content and in terms of how we police ourselves.

Re: Why the cooling off corner?
Awe man, I missed the Body Glide thread. I would've had to have read that with a bowl of popcorn for sheer entertainment value.

Reason: changed "Glove" to "Glide". Sorry, I live in a surfer-heavy area. Body Glove is abound.
