Back in '93, I was reading a magazine, and there was an ad for Abercrombie and Fitch (Pre-porno ad days) that had a guy dancing in a kilt. I thought it was just the coolest, and that was the first I had seen one that wasn't being worn in only a formal occasion setting.

Then, when I came to University the first time (long ago), there was a guy that wore one every now and then. This was around the same time that "Braveheart" and "Rob Roy" came out. This definitely upped the coolness factor. 8)

Last summer is when I became really serious about getting a kilt (though couldn't afford it), but honestly, I can't remember what prompted the whole thing.

I really don't know why I took the plunge, a variety of small reasons I suppose, but I think I know why I keep wearing them. In all honesty I suppose it's a power trip, I feel a cut above the average guy when I'm wearing a kilt. It doesn't sound very nice and as though I suffer from low self esteem, but there it is. Once I'd cut through the usual stuff, comfort that sort of thing, that was the real reason.
I FEEL GREAT IN A KILT. I feel pretty good the rest of the time, but always special in a kilt.
I wonder if you feel better in a great kilt.

Personally...and obviously...it's because I'm Scottish. This is my national dress, nothing more hansome than seeing a man in a kilt. The way it swings when they walk/strutt is fantastic. Definately brings out the best in a man when they wear one. Chest out..loving the attention (cos I know you all do 8))I'd never pass a man in a kilt without a comment about how nice he looks. They deserve all the attention,praise and positive comments they get.

Susan. I've had some great comments from Scottish women who obviously just love guys in kilts. Total strangers.... a pub landlady, a rail clerk, shop assistant, waitress and several more. Makes me feel good and stand tall, which in turn makes me look even better.

Exactly why I started wearing a kilt......well, you've heard of 'sleepers'? Well I reckon something deeprooted has come to the surface, triggered by a chance to wear the full Prince Charlie during a show I was involved in.

I was hooked from that day on. I can't rationalise it. It just happened.

Kilts are just fun to wear, and I like to have fun. This fun probably comes from a combination of rebelliousness, that refreshing feeling, the CDI factor, comfort, and the desire to sing a song or two. I'm a bit jealous that I can't claim pride of heritage, but nobody's perfect, not even me.

As far as I know, I don't have a drop of Celtic blood in me so I can't claim heritage.

So I will have to opt for comfort. My kilts are the most comfortable and versitile garments I own and as a previous poster mentioned, I look good in a kilt.
