Personally I wear my kilts three/ four days a week in London but wouldn't feel comfortable at all wearing one back home.
Something you may find interesting is that the 2010 World Pipe Band Champions were St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band (SLOT) of Dublin. They wear the solid green kilt.
