Of course he might just like pink hose , and like many of us , simply wear what we favour , or what we happen to have in the wardrobe or chest, without worrying too much about precise matching or co ordinating.... it's just a thought!

Slightly OT, but for a fascinating read on colour theory and the perception and use of colours around the world I highly recommend (along with his other works)
Colorist: A Practical Handbook for Personal and Professional Use by Shigenobu Kobayashi
Editor's note: "The Colorist seeks nothing less than to demystify color aesthetics. After three years of extensive travel and research, color specialist Shigenobu Kobayashi has devised a stunningly simple method for pinpointing personal color preferences. A series of clear-cut exercises allows you to accurately define your color sense and then locate it on an "image scale" in order to select compatible color schemes for home or office, or even wardrobe. Agreed Paul, and that has always been my thought on the matter. Arguably, most choices we make in regards to Highland dress 'particulars,' are almost always a matter of personal preference and a reflection of our own individual style.

Great info on color theory....while I agree, just don't think the pink hose look "right" somehow with the tartans he's been wearing. For sure agree on the "light red" with "light green" but just doesn't seem to work for ME...others more sophisticated, yes...me - no.
Reminds me of a high school rebellion against a dress code. We students decided to meet the dress code but wear colors that clashed in order to protest the code.
Do admire the out on the edge of the envelope aspect of the pink hose though.
Perhaps a new fashion statement rising, since so many vendors are offering them for kilt wear and shooting wear.

Re: A Modern-Day Duke in Scabal: His Grace the Duke of Argyll
All I know is peoples reactions to me when wearing colors, usually shirt colors, such as yellow, red, or orange has not been pleasant throughout my life. Other colors seem to work well when I wear them. I have read up a little on this effect, but I'm not at all an expert.
Thankfully some of these colors, like blue, are colors I like. It doesn't mean I don't like orange, just that I don't like the reaction of people when I wear orange clothing. It would be the way the clothing colors clash with my hair, skin, and eye colors, as I understand it.
Pink, being a shade of red, tends to fall into the "don't wear" category for me.
I'm guessing, though, Riverkilt would do well with pink. Again, I can only go by the comments, not the pictures.
