I have yet to have a client react negatively about the kilt.

I've never been asked that question.

WElcome to the board Hltoppr, glad you decided to jump in.

I hope we'll get to know you, help you, learn from you through this great forum.

I guess your work would have some strict dress codes, have you ever worn a kilt with a client?

    Welcome Hltopper,

I was an architect for many years had my own practice till I sold it. But because I worked for myself that meant that I was a bit eccentric in the eyes of the clients, and the ones who considered me a little off never became my clients. I really did not start kilting until I was in the process of selling the practice, so it really was not an issue. But I think that they were the type of people I would not want as clients. Sometimes it is a tough call.

    Again welcome to the board.

So Graham... How did this situation get resolved? Did this gentleman (your client) bow to reason or did his puerile "schoolyard" rhetoric win the day? Was just wondering how the story played out.

Bit of fizzer Blu, the work was done to order and I delivered it to the business after hours so I didn't have a chance to show my client how great I look in a kilt!

This guy may have been a bit strange about kilts because the first time he saw me was when I had been asked to climb on the roof of the factory to make a measurement.
The ladder I used run alongside the kwindow of the staffroom so I can only speculate at what comments were made as i climbed the ladder

    I neither know nor care!

My point to this guy is that I am a private contractor, I work for myself and can establish my own dress codes as I please (mostly).

No doubt I'll see him again, he's boss of a large milk company on the coast here and a regular client.
