Re: the footwear question; As a visitor to the games, I've worn hiking boots to fend off the dirt dust and dew, but with regular kilt hose etc. from there up. As a participant, waterproof brogues or toe-caps and took along a small silicone wiping gadget to tidy up from time to time.

As for footwear, you might want to give Ghillators a look at
http://www.sportkilt.com/product/918...ators.html#tab
They are light weight and very comfortable. You can wear them all day and then, if dirty, simply hose them off. And, they won't break the bank either at $50.
They have a glossy (as opposed to shiny) finish as shown in the picture, because they are basically Crocs. I call them Ghilliecrocs, but their creator came out of the University of Florida and named them Ghillators, presumably after the school's mascot.
I have no vested interest in Sport Kilt or Ghillators of any kind. I just like the shoes.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck and enjoy the games!
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

If it's a hot day, I've been known to wear flip-flops with my kilt. Basically, anything you'd wear with shorts, works with a kilt.
There are MANY ways to rock a kilt. By all means, wear what pleases YOU. (including that jacobite shirt if you like it). Why the heck not?
(Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who thinks The Real McKenzies are the epitome of kilt-wearing coolness).
Not that I'd dress that way to my wedding or anything but, well, you know what I mean..............

This is pretty much what's worn to games in the Texas summer;
Order of the Dandelion, The Houston Area Kilt Society, Bald Rabble in Kilts, Kilted Texas Rabble Rousers, The Flatcap Confederation, Kilted Playtron Group.

Thanks for all the replies, now I have a better idea of what to wear, I just didn't want to be the one at the games that everyone was pointing at and laughing.

Well, so what if somebody does?
As an added thought......events like that are fun and are a great way to scope out others outfits and get ideas of how you want to put yours together in the future. If you are like me, you might even buy a new sporran or belt or even KILT and duck out to the car, put on the new item and return to the event LOL.
Done it many times.............

Or, you could take my approach and make an effort to be the one at the games that everyone is pointing at and laughing.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Of course I would pick a custom, one-off design. My compliments to your lovely wife for her artistry and craftsmanship.

Just PM or email me for details.
