It would have been real impressive if you had been able to get the Captain into a kilt to administer the oath!!

Great pix! Thanks for your service, good sir.

I have to say -- I miss uniforms where I could distinguish rank at a glance. I have no idea what the boss' rank is. What's up with one tiny rank insignia on the middle of the chest? How do you know who to salute until you're on top of them? ;)

Thank you for all the well wishes everyone. The crazy thing is, the CPT offered to wear a kilt too, we just couldn't find one in his size on short notice!!!! There are actually 4 people here on the base that wear kilts on a semi-regular basis (including me), two of which I got started on kilting.
Kilts, because some men need the extra room, and some men wear pants.

Wow, congratulations, that is awesome. I do have one question though, what are you guys drinking? In my experience, the desert is pretty dry(Sorry, couldn't help it). Thanks for serving, you should check out SAMS if you haven't yet.

Saluting in a combat zone, especially when "outside the wire", just isn't done. No point in flagging the officers for snipers who might be observing.
