As my son(11th Cav) would say "Hoo AHH", congrats and keep it low.

Interesting to see how things are done in different forces. When I joined the RAF it was for 4 years. After 3, I could see that it was for me, so I extended my service to 12 years. To re-enlist a British serviceman would have to be out of the forces for at least 24 hours, but there is no way that they would be in an active combat zone as a civilian. They would be shipped back to the UK first.
For extending service it is just a few forms that need to be signed - no ceremony. For re-enlistment the person would be in civilian clothing, because at that moment they would not be entitled to wear a uniform.
As it happens, I was the one and only RAF serviceman to have initially signed on (enlist) in Germany. Because in the normal course of events a serviceman only makes the oath once and there had never been anyone else enlist in Germany the Squadron Leader had to call London and quickly scribble it down before I could read it out.
It must have been really impressive to enlist in a kilt - I wish I had done.
Kiltedinkansas - come home safe.

congratulations and thanks. My son goes into basic training in august. If a 5'10' 200 pound mackenzie plaid shows up over there keep an eye on him okay.

Conratulations on your re-enlistment. My son is in 2SCR, currently in Germany, and survived his first tour. He would offer up a HOO-ahh.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

Kiltedinkansas ,
Thank you for your service to your country and to us all . Thank you for introducing kilting to your brothers in arms . Words often escape us on how to express our appreciation . Perhaps these words say it best .
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.... It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech..... It is the soldier, not the organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.... It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag , Who serves beneath the flag, and Whose coffin is draped by the flag , Who allows the protestor to burn the flag. " ..... Father Dennis Edward O'Brian, USMC
Salutations to you sir , be safe and know you are respected and appreciated .
Best Regards , Mike
