Unfortunately there is a perception that all utility style kilts are the near the same. I believe myself, Freedom kilts, and TFK are the only ones that make a contemporary utility styled kilt that has more than 4 yds of material. How is the consumer to know unless we tell them. Yes my comparison is much like an 2:00 AM infomercial and yes it was my choice to compare two ends of the spectrum, but believe me the consumer at a highland games faced with the products in front of him or her, unless they are shown really don't care. It's the same as vendors selling acrylic kilts, the consumer unless they are told or have done their research think it's the same as a wool handmade kilt. Unless you're a vendor it's surprising the number of folk that are in the dark about kilts in general. Forums like this one serve a purpose to help aid a consumer in making a choice that fits their budget.
Possible comparing a RKilt and Freedom kilt with a TFK would be a logical choice. They are in the same ballpark, well made...but then we are discussing fine points between an Audi, Porsche and Mercedes.....
I did what I did....and from my experience of dealing with the consumer it is an important discussion
