Hopefully Steph and I will be able to make it to the Glasgow, KY games. Our summer holiday to Nags Head and Jacksonville, North Carolina is just around the corner in July, so we may have to save our pennies and attend Glasgow next summer, we shall see!

Cheers John and again, well done piping on Saturday!

Carol & I will be staffing the Clan MacTavish tent at Glasgow. We will also be staying at the lodge in order to attend the patrons reception & the ball on Saturday. If X-markers are at these games, please stope by our tent and relax & chat for a while.

A couple of the pipe bands on their demo parade performances.

Carter had a blast eating muffins, cotton candy, ice cream, drinking lemonade, watching the shelties herd some ducks, riding the little train, looking at the car collection, playing at the playground, but mostly watching the athletes in kilts tossing the sheaf (16 pound hay sack flung with a pitchfork over a 25 foot high crossbar). I could not drag him away from the athletics, he was having so much fun cheering for all the guys.

Did see some interesting characters but did not photo----a couple guys in full kilt with hose and spats and horsehair sporrans worn with black t-shirts and a ball cap on one and a red bandana on the other; an old gent in tartan kilt, similar tartan smaller set long sleeve shirt, and similar tartan different sett tam; a lot more Glengarrys worn by the run of the mill attendees than Balmorals; a lot of white hose, some worn with running shoes, too numerous to count ghillie shirts in a rainbow of colors, and quite a few kilts worn below the knee, sometimes a couple inches below. Hey, this is Kentucky, not St Andrews.

We had a great father-son day at the games and gathering and met and talked with some fun folks. Hope to see more of you there next year.

Fantastic photos Jeff, thank you for sharing!

I wish we could have had more time together (your rare, Brown Douglas tartan looked very, very smart by the way!). After we had left the clan tent area after meeting you and your son, Carter, we went over to the British car show area to take a look at Mike's new Cooper. We spent a bit of time there (John met up with us in that area and we all chatted for a while), then headed over the area where the pipe bands were performing for the crowd - near the "Scottish Pub" pavilion where they were selling beer and wine. We spent a while over there, as we met a couple from England, and well, one thing lead to another so to speak!

I did go off a few times, wandering around the park, looking for you, but I must have just been looking in the wrong area, or perhaps I just missed you! I really wanted to speak with you more about various topics. I am pleased that you and Carter had a great time, and I hope that you had a nice visit with Mark at the Clan MacTavish booth - Steph and I had been chatting with him for a wee bit just prior to you arriving. I trust you had a safe return home to Goshen. We are definitely looking forward to seeing you again soon - next time, we will be certain to have a lengthy, proper chat!

    Cheers my friend,

P.S. - Perhaps me, you, Sandy, John (and whoever else would like to join!) could get a "kilt/gentlemen's night" together in the greater Louisville area sometime soon. I certainly do not mind driving down from Cincinnati. Just a thought.

    Mark,

It was a pleasure seeing you again, mate. Your Clan MacTavish booth inside the larger tent was simply outstanding! You really have done a fabulous job of creating a very informative and 'inviting' area for the masses, as well as for prospective Clan MacTavish Association members to see. It was also a pleasure meeting your wife, son, and grandson - it's wonderful to have family support when managing a Clan tent/booth.

    Hope to see you soon!

I too felt like there was not enough time to spend chatting around with all our X friends at the KSW, you in particular. I did have several great discussions with Mark after we got dragged over to the food and drink table by Carter's desire for an apple and a muffin, and then again right before we left for the day when we stopped back to the clan tent to say our goodbyes. Carter was fascinated by just about everything, but desperately wanted to ride the train and play on the playset, but interestingly we spent nearly an hour watching the athletics, him right up front on the fence cheering for all the guys competing as if they were his own kin. He was living and dying with each success and failure. Unfortunately he is a precocious and a bit demanding child who gets bored easily and therefore must be kept moving and seeing new and exciting things, a situation not conducive to long and meaningful conversations, something I wish we had had more time for.

Unfortunately I will not likely make Glasgow due to some call coverage requirements, although I would love to make that one. We Louisvillians just had out micro-kilt-night (no all the kilts were standard size---it was just three of us though getting together for a bit and some supper) about a month or so ago, although I am sure we could find another excuse for another one sometime this summer. Will post when set up.

    Be well, friends.

Another great photo, Kyle, but I'm afraid in this instance your dapper impeccability is overshadowed by the beauty of your bride.

And rightly so! I am quite a lucky man indeed.

    Cheers,
