Congrats, you're really one of us now. You'll like it alot, probably become addicted in a short time and be as compulsive as we all are.

Welcome Miah,
With import difficulties here in the United Kingdom, I don't have a wide experience of American kiltmakers, but I do have nine Utilikilts, a couple of Amerikilts and a Savannah (was Neo) kilt (which reminds me, I MUST write to Jim Byous). I am sure you will be delighted with your USA Kilt and that you will soon progress to investing in more. As everyone tells you, kilts are addictive.
It is good to have you aboard - but, do tell us, what on earth are you beating the living daylights out of in your Avatar? I hope you are not aggressive!!

Welcome Miah, don't worry about ironing the pleats fall into place. My favorite, a cammo gets wet and dries, the pleats are still there.
Be aware (maybe that should be beware), this is the first of many.
I love the Clan Destin quote.
Cheers Rhino

That icon is from a movie called Office Space Hamish. The guy is beating a fax machine! It is a great movie.

Yes, office space heheh if you have ever worked in a cubicle
at the office it is a well worth rental. very funny show.
I already am planning out my 2nd Kilt I am debating on attempting to find a kilt maker to make a 8ish yard Leatherneck kilt, Or go With a Skene tartan.
the problem is that both those Tartans seem to be only carried by the more expensive makers. but we will see i am sure.

Miah, it's always nice to have a "good" kilt so one expensive traditional is a good investment for dress occasions, if not strictly neccesary.

Miah,
Here are three sights that offer The Leatherneck Tartan in yardage. You can make your own, or provide the material for a professional.
BTW, have you seen the Confederate Memorial Tartan? (The CSA Memorial Tartan is available from two of the links below.) Since you live in Lower Alabama, this might be an option for kilt number 3 or 4. I expect my first will be a solid, and the second either a Confederate Memorial or a Clan McDonald, and the third a Masonic Grand Lodge of Scotland Tartan.

Thank you. the leather neck Tartan is very nice as is the Confederate. the confederate is a nice muted grey too very subtle like.
Purchasing by the yard will be a big investment it seems, I may have to wait a while on it.I imagine at some point I will make a attempt at getting a 8 yard traditional Leatherneck Kilt.

Hamish... are you saying that you've had problems with getting merchandise from this side of the pond? I've purchased items from the UK in the past (but only through a dealer) and heard of no problems there. As long as all of the various taxes and duties get paid that is.
