My Kilts - 3 and Counting
I joined this forum last summer. I saw a Utilikilt in Costco which started my search for more information on kilts (I had already decided to get one while on our trip to Scotland in the fall in my mothers clan tartan : Cahoon [Colquhoun]) which ended up bringing me here.
In September I made a trip down to Seattle which ended up as a nice combo to visit with some 2nd cousins of mine and a friend. I also made a stop in to the Utilikilts shop...

The next kilt to add to the collection came in the form of a X-kilt, I looked up the instructions in the summer but didn't get around to making it until March. There are some things I will change for the next one but overall I like how it turned out since I hadn't sewn anything since Home Ec in grade 7.

While in Scotland in October (I know October lies between Sept and March but I'm posting this timeline by acquisition date) I met up with Rendall and he took the measurements for a 16oz 8 yard pleated to the Sett Colquhoun Ancient kilt. This kilt just arrived this week, I wasn't in a rush for it and was fine to wait through his queue to get it.

What you see there is the longest kilt you can make out of 8 yards of single width tartan (I know Colquhoun is double width, but you understand how a kilt is made). The top of the waistband is made from the same fabric as a liner due to the length of the kilt.
And I'm strongly considering grabbing a German Heritage Casual/Semi-Trad from Rocky.

Well Done, federkeil!
That X-Kilt is really eye-catching.
Time for lots of accessories, I think.

You are a really good advert for having a kilt custom made - the utilikilt looks small and skimpy on you - though you must be quite tall and broad shouldered, so it is helped by not having a great contrast between the kilt and top.
The X-Kilt seems to have turned out well. It fits you too.
The tartan kilt looks very nice indeed.

Yeah, the Utilikilt is a 40"x24.5". I'm very hippy so I got the waist a bit big so it could hang lower, there is no fear of it falling off (Hips are a 47 where as my true waist is ~38.5)
I'm 6'7". I measured the tartan kilt out to 28.25" in length (he made it as big as the fabric would allow) and I made the Xkilt to 25.5"

All nice kilts.
Now you need Hose (in various colors), Sporran (Day & Dress), ... & "just more kilt".
Welcome to the addiction.

I have a couple pairs of Hose. One being German and made for wear with Lederhosen (of which I don't own), another being made by Corrymoor in the UK (Woodlander Plus 4) in a nice hunter green which I wore with my Utilikilt in Scotland. Regular off the rack Hose doesn't fit me very well as I need it to cover my size 15 (UK 14) foot and then go up another 19 inches to the foldover point.
