I agree with others here about the patches. It seems so obvious, but you must be the first.

my last reply listing the patches was in answer to your question but I hit reply but not reply with quotes. pretty soon I am going to either have to gain weight so I can get a bigger kilt, stop when it's full or get another kilt and have a "personal likes" kilt and a national parks kilt. I know it seems out of character for someone on this page to find a reason to get another kilt.

I like the patches idea as well. I have a huge patch collection that covers all manner of things, but they are just in a box awaiting that one GRAND IDEA of how/where to sew them all on.

If I ever get a utilikilt to wear hiking, I'll be putting the trail patches I get on there. (I also collect medallions to go on my hiking staff.)
I currently have some patches on my backpack, a couple more on a day pack, and the rest on my patch blanket. I have a couple of blankets, actually. One was given to me (with patches older than I am) and one with my own patches. Mine I have hanging as a wall decoration (put a 2 " diam. pass-through for a curtain rod at the top). The other is laying on the guest bed.
