The red hose were flecked with black. I would call them Ragg Wool socks and get them from Beans or any sporting goods store. They looked great. They had an interesting kilt pin. I did not ask about it but it was two balls that, I expect, had a pin between them behind the front.

The red hose ( sort of a "ragg" style sock with black flecks) have been worn by all ranks for years. The officers wear red and white diced hose with mess dress, which the pipers also wear.

Wonderful photos! I have seen the Atholl Highlanders in Scotland many times, they are always very well turned out and a joy to watch and chat with! I'm glad that you had a wonderful time and that you were able to be a part of such a unique celebration.
Thanks for sharing,

Can any member direct me to an official website for the Atholl Highlanders? Or a link to a 'contact us' page? I can find links to Blair Atholl Castle and Estates, but nothing to the Highlanders.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Chas

Chas,
I don't think the Atholl Highlanders have their own official website, as I have attempted to locate one, but with no success. As you are already aware, I think the best link to the Regiment is via the official website of Blair Atholl, the Atholl Highlanders Parade, and the Atholl Gathering and Games.
Cheers,

I wouldn't mind having a pair of those, Sandy! I've admired them (both the Atholl Highlanders and the red hose ) for years.

Thanks for that Kyle. I was coming to that conclusion myself.

Notice, too, that they wear ghillie brogues with buckles rather than the Mary Jane style of buckle brogues.

Precisely! I like both versions - quite smart with Highland evening attire.

I only got two front-on pics of him. It is a really nice kilt to see in reality. Great job and a credit to Barb's book.
The tie looks great, mate!
