You'll be fine here Narcissa. But you know that already. I have not found a more tolerant and civil crowd anywhere. I wouldn't convert your Kilts to skirts though. The average person won't notice (My wife has three kilts and wears them left apron over right) and Kilts are more expensive than skirts. If you convert them they'll depreciate.

After retiring from the Navy, being a volunteer FF for the last 14 years and nearly dieing on more occassions than I care to remember, the only thing that I know as a fact is that if you aren't happy with yourself, you won't be happy with anything else either. Very true. You will not be attacked here for who you are, but should you wear or express approval of the wrong color of hose or type of hat, all bets are off, and you are fair game! I used to think it was strange that the group was so accepting and non-judgmental about the important things and could go quite over the edge about trivial matters, but that is probably is truly the better way!

I maintain that the kilt is like the kimono, it folds only one way - unless - so I am told, the kimono wearer is dead - so whilst we are alive let us live, and fold the kilt left over right.

There is the option of new kilts and skirts made 27 inches long - that being half the standard width of 54 inch for wool fabric and a common length.
