I always think of my dad on the Sunday after D day - that is when he went over to France with his squadron, No 247, in Dacotas.
He worked on Typhoons, but there were six squadrons flying out of some farm fields near Bayaux. He was sent to assist with any troublesome plane - he was always asked for at home when a car wouldn't start.
