Well apparently I'm "doing it all wrong". Went to the doc and the good news is, I haven't ruptured the existing hernia and it's as strong as ever.

Bad news is that the ailment I have been diagnosed with requires "supportive" undergarments and heat, whereas I had been treating the discomfort with ice and a total lack of support. I don't even own a pair of tightey whiteys so next on the shopping list, a heat pad and some new spiderman underroos.

Nothing like the joy of going to a new doctor and having him tell you that the last one you went to has you doing the wrong things to treat a condition.
How are we novices supposed to know which of the two professionals to listen to. Well, in your case I guess it's try the new idea and hope for the best.

A few years back I developed a inguinal (spelling?) hernia. Nothing life threatening. After the surgical repair, the Doctor recommended snug fitting underwear. So far, no further problems. Thank my lucky stars.

So in at least some circumstances there may actually be good medical reason to wear undies with the kilt. . .

Great to hear the good news about not rupturing the hernia. But really, do you really need a doctor's note so you could wear your kilt more than you already do?

For a couple of weeks. I have an ultrasound in a few more weeks to make 100% sure that it's just inflammation (oddly enough, caused by squatting heavy weights), and not something more severe. I'm just going to swim for now.

Apparently lifting weights with even a partially full bladder can cause this issue, so my friends that lift weights - do yourself a favor and make sure you are "running on empty".

Same here. Heat and boxer briefs work for me.
