I sew the rosette to the bonnet with several small stitches of heavy thread right at the middle of the rosette. The stitches don't show when covered by the cap badge, which is attached to the bonnet through the cockade.

Hmm... Did you make it to the games? Didn't see you. I was at the Clan MacTavish "tent" most of the day Saturday (and at the ceilidh Friday night). I did run in to several Xmarkers and pics were taken, but not by me.

I did make a pass through the clan "tent" building, though it was near lunch time and many were absent getting a bite to eat, I suspect. I did linger at the Buchanan table for a while though, to chat with the woman there.

I spent most of the day out and about, watching the border collie demonstrations, the caber toss and other events at the grandstands, listening to pipers scatterred throughout the venue, watching the dancers, and perusing the vendors. I didn't make as many purchases as I'd thought I would (I bought only an embroidered clan emblem for my suit jackets.) Surprisingly, I was unable to find anyone selling sporran straps. There were lots of chains, but no straps. Maybe Matt has some at the museum... I'll be there the first week of July.

They are very easy to make. 1/2 - 3/4" leather strap, buckle and a swivel snap for each end, all available at Hobby Lobby and others. Maybe $10 in materials and a 2-3 hour job.

My mother used to make belts, wallets and such years ago when I was a kid. When she passed away, I retained all of her old leatherworking tools (no sign of the marble slab, though, amongst her things.) So making a strap would be no problem. Looking for one yesterday, was actually just an impulse thing, though again, I was a bit surprised not to see any. When I don't wear a chain, I currently just use my leather hangers.
