Smile My Sgian Dubh by Comrie Crafts, Pitlochry, Perthshire, Scotland

    Hi guys,

after having looked for a sgian dubh some time and beeing bored and disgusted by all the plastic and junk I luckily found Comrie Crafts in Scotland who offer nice handmade sgian dubhs.

My first one is of course a daywear sgian dubh....(but the next one is on my list.)

It's staghorn with bullhorn cap, ebony trim and celtic pewter ornament, a stainless steel blade and a leather scabbard.

What do you think about it?

    Yes Luckyrobertson...I am glad too.

    Won't be the last one.
I am thinking of a nice ebony one with thistle ornament.

I really like the combination of plain and modest style, quality materials and remarkle - you already said it - workmanship.

    Thanks!

By the way why don't you show yours? :-)

fine specimen. It was the same for me, I had also been looking around for some time last year and eventually came across James's site.

It's a pleasure to make business with James.

    that's mine:

I've been shopping around myself for a nice looking sgian dubh. I'm sure I'm not the only one here to have noticed, that after awhile they all start to look alike :-). The two shown above are real beauties. Congratulations gents.

    :-) Thanks!

Dealing with James is very pleasing and his prices are very decent (when I bought mine some month ago shipping was included...he changed this now, but also very modestly!)

They are all between 50 and 90 GBP...Many different handles and ornaments.

I will have one or two more of him...:-)

Mine as well!! I have a Sgian Dubh Company resin handled one that I never wear...because it's totally useless. I'm not really into wearing things just for decoration. Thanks for reminding me about this website. I know I've looked before, but had forgotten about this source. If i get one, it will most likely be a Damascus blade.

On a separate note, I'm also not a big believer in a "Dress Sgian" and a "Daywear Sgian"....I'll buy one that is moderately dressy with a FUNCTIONAL BLADE...and use it for all occasions!
