Its for your wife to decide but I would be disappointed if any of the torchbearers, whether male or female, were any less than proud to be seen and photographed with a kiltie!

If it is assumed, as many do here, that a kilt is worn for special occasions... well what a fine occasion to say the least! As a couple make your decision together. As a guy sitting far away in the foothills of Alberta, I'd say, go for it! Have a wonderful experience. We'll all watch for photos!

We give ourselves far too much credit at times, as if what we are doing is more important that what is going on elsewhere. The truth is no one will look and no one will care.
The 24 will be dull, overcast with light showers. Take an umbrella and a small fold-up model for your lady for afterwards.

My wife and I are just back from a week in London. As mentioned she was honored to be one of the Torchbearers for the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay leading up to the openining ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
Her run was on 24JULY in Richmond upon Thames along Kew Road starting at Deer Park near the clubhouse for the Welch Cricket Club and ran past the Pagoda in Kew Gardens.
My kilt made the trip over but, unfortunately, the weather was perfect (too hot!) to wear my kilt. I had packed assuming the weather was going to be on the cooler side. The weather, however, was in the mid to high 80's each day.
Here are a few pictures of her with the torch and some of the events of the day and a video of her run. The crowd loved the do-si-do at the end. ps. you might recognize Boris Becker who was also carrying the torch that day.
