Some months ago I posted about my plans to hold a Kilted 5k as part of the New Brunswick Highland Games Festival - the largest Games in Atlantic Canada - 15+ pipe bands, heavy athletics, highland dancing, BEER TENT with entertainment, etc.

Well, it's now happened and it was a big hit both with participants and with Games attendees. 41 registrants "toed the line", most in kilt or highland-themed costume. Pictures can be seen at:

Two that I particularly like - the one of the 3 young lasses who were creative in using bumper stickers! The other the one of me on my bike (I was Race Director so I was patrolling the route) because it shows me wearing my late father's Royal Canadian Engineers web belt/buckle and his RCE officer hat badge that I had converted to a kilt pin. Kilt is of course Gordon tartan, which I wear as a member of the Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew pipe band.

No question that the event will be part of next years games as well. Perhaps some x-markers will make the trip to beautiful Fredericton, NB on the last full weekend in July 2013.
