I can see the guards outside of the Emerald Palace in Oz wearing something like that. Beyond that, I can't imagine anyone having a use for one in those colors.

I agree with the high school marching band uniform idea. Some schools have a particular uniform for the Drum Major which reflects the theme of that year's show and does not necessarily match the rest of the band's uniforms. This one might have come from such a school. Or maybe a community theatre production of some kind.

If I were 100 pounds lighter and rich, I would be at Rocky's weekly and have Matt and the rest of the kilt maker who are not in driving distance on speed dial.

The auction closes soon! Don't miss your chance to get this wonderous thing.

BTW it's being sold by a vintage clothing shop in Glasgow. Plus, the thing appears to be well-made with high quality materials, so I wasn't guessing an American High School uniform or theatrical costume, which have a certain "look" to them, usually. And as was pointed out school uniforms are usually in school colours which are normally bold contrasting pairs such as blue/gold crimson/grey etc etc.

The seller says it has no labels of any sort within, so it may remain a mystery.

Due to its Glasgow provenance and evident quality, my guess would be that it was made by a Highland Outfitter as a one-off for a fashion show or some such.

I wonder if it was made for the theatre - a production of Brigadoon or some such.

    Regards

    Chas
