I want to know who "adopted" it. He does the same thing for all of his tartans, trying to pass off his designs as quasi official. He'll send some high ranking person a gift of a tie and will receive a thank you note (not surprisingly) for the gift. Next, the thank you note is quoted on his site beside the tartan along with the statement that the tartan has been "officially adopted". Acknowledgement of a gift does NOT equal official recognition, though some seem to get confused on that point.
Steve... I think your Marine Corps Dress tartan does look very nice and compliments the uniform well.
Now back to the topic at hand. Sorry to Steve for going OT in his section.

I just want to say, from personal experience, I share Rocky's concern for anything seen on that particular web site or any other by the same person/company.

If you would like to see the early stages of using the new tartan in making a kilt, check out the forum on Kilt Kamp 2012:

Steve , I've always liked your Marine tartan from the beginning and also seeing it in your last pic from an earlier post , but I am really stoked seeing it in these pictures from the link .
I know I've already said this .... but wow , what a great tribute to the Dress Blues . The tartan is not only representative but also strong and bold without being overstated . Back in the day ... we called this ..taking the initiative . Just my own two cents , absolutely spot on !

I second everything MacGumerait just said. The tartan looks great, and the pics of Kilt Kamp are tremendous!
Now I want to make another kilt!!
