Wonderful pictures! The stone walls of the Broch of Carloway are incredible - so ancient and yet look like they could tumble at any moment. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing more - the pictures are food for the soul!

Love the pics! I plan on being in Edinburgh sometime soon for 2 weeks to a month, so I'm pretty psyched!

Thanks for the pics. I'm planning my first trip to Scotland--still a year off--and I'm starting a list of "must see" places.

This is some of the architectural detail from the back of Dunrobin Castle.

The ruins of a black house dating from the clearances.

Ceramic replicas of the Lewis Chessmen. (I brought a set of the resin ones home)

And last, a reproduction of the Norse Mill and Kiln. There were several hundred of these in Scotland over the long years past.

There will be a gathering of the clans at Stirling Castle in 2014. I started planning for it yesterday! Wouldn't it be something if we had a couple hundred xmarkers in our blue tartans. Steve would have to wear the the feathers in his cap.
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.
