According to Haggipoedia, the western hemisphere version (haggis domesticus), while closely resembling the European variety (haggis tartanus) it is actually in the same family as the Great Northern Snipe found in the Great Lakes region and Canada, with entirely different mating habits. I do understand that there are some folks who have tried haggis ranching in Southern California, with little success. They don't breed well in captivity.
