I personally like having a change bag ... but then again I'm in Canada where there are no 1$ or 2$ bills ... but coins (loonies and toonies ... or the 1$ coin with a loon bird on back and a two dollar coin)

Something nice about feeling some weight and metal as money (even though tis metal isn't worth much) ... makes me nostalgic for the eras when money was actually substance of some worth - not just worthless paper, plastic or digital placeholders (and not even backed by gold or silver ... but backed by "digital belief" and pressure from some system).

Paper money is indeed a bit of a pain for everyday life, but when it comes to wearing a kilt and going to a Highland Games where I'm going to spend money at a vendor's booth or a food tent, cash is king. Not all of them have the ability to take plastic. So my sporran is one of the few places that I actually carry cash and change.

Remember those old rubberized football-shaped change holders? They had a slit in the middle and you could just squeeze them to get to the coins inside. I miss those. I really need a good way to hold my loose coins in my sporran but I haven't seen one of those in years.

Here you go, mate! "Vintage" and still mounted on the card ;)

And the best part is it's only $9US! Remember when banks and hardware stores used to give them away as advertising.

    ith:

PS: You can tell it's vintage because it's made in the USA.

Yes, I remember when they were free! I probably had two dozen of them stuffed in a drawer that had been given to me by businesses.

Never thought I'd see the day when they were actually worth something. Nine bucks seems pretty steep! Gotta love the way the term "vintage" acts as a price multiplier.

You can still find these change holders. Many hardware stores will have them by their key duplicating machine along with key chains.

Many dollar store carry them also. They tend to be on the wall behind the check out counter for some reason. Maybe for fear of shop lifters stealing them and selling them on online auction sites?

It might be more enjoyable at the games to give your change to your kids instead of having it loose in your sporran. I know it makes my kids happy (ages 12 & 8).

Yeah...I think that those change purses are one of those items that businesses buy personalized and hand out as little good will gifts...like imprinted pens or, more recently, thumb drives.

Maybe we need some X-marks change purses printed up...one in every sporran.
