Wonderful kilt. I remember corresponding with you about the tartan when you first found the cloth.
What makes this version of the Rose tartan so nice is that it actually follows the description in the Vestiarium Scoticum which mentions two different shades of red.
The way it is always woven today by the mills uses the same shade of red throughout. Here's the modern version.

I much prefer the two-red version myself, as it adds a lot more depth and richness to the tartan.
