Eminence, Ky Celtic Festival and Highland Games
How many on this forum plan to attend this? I can't wait, as it will be my first time kilted in a public gathering! Have not received the kilt yet, should be waiting for me at home now, or arrive tomorrow. I will post pictures for advice on if I am wearing everything right.

You will love wearing your kilt for the first time, especially at the highland games. You will be amongst a lot of the kilted. You will be a majority and you will feel the kinship among the clans (except the Campbells....lol).

Do the Campbells not like the fact black watch is universal? I do have a campbell back in my line, granted its way back.

Been thinking about going. Just depends on how the week goes. I've never been.

I'll be there with the Louisville Pipe Band. Band competition starts at 2PM, opening ceremonies with massed bands around noon. There will be three grade 5 bands competing: Louisville, Cincinatti Caledonian Pipes & Drums and Dundee Scottish Pipe Band from Chicago. (I'm also helping to set up the band competition circle).
The site is a Renaissance Faire location during the summer, and some of the regulars (both vendors and 'playtrons') at the RenFaire also come to the Highland Games. It's usually a bit different from most of the other Games in the area.
It's also the only legally "wet" Games in Kentucky. (The other Games take place at State Parks where there is no alcohol sold - though the rangers tend to turn their heads unless you're being obnoxious.)

Good luck with your first experience. You are going to a kilting event so it should be positive.
Take someone with you, give them the camera, say the words 'I look magnificent, take lots of pictures of me and other kilties' - then you can enjoy the day and not have to worry.
Looking forward to the follow-up.
Regards
