I dunno, I think the fringe is rather interesting. Its something different, makes a bit o' a statement. Plenty of trousers around without fringe. This makes it distinctive with that harkening back to the traditional kilt. It definitely adds an interest element to what otherwise would just be another pair of tartan pants.
