I have both a real blackthorn stick and one from Cold Steel. I like the one from Cold Steel for knocking around with and keep the real one for special occations.

For Information. It's officially SOLD and the thread in the link above no longer works as the thread has been officially deleted. No problems, just a heads up.

I am well-aware that the polypropalene sticks are synthetic. Price seemed to be a consideration. Real blackthorn shillelaghs are quite pricey. Thanks for biting my head off, guys.

Madadh, I don't own the shillelagh but I do own their hand-and-half sword trainer. Good quality. Very rugged..stronger than any wood out there.

They don't look bad (I have one), especially for the price. The polypropylene is heavier than blackthorn but is certainly strong and tough. Really, the only thing I find not to like is that the "wood color" on the "root knob" is just a very thin veneer that chips off about as easily as an eggshell.
