I don't think I'd ever wear a non-traditional Kilt. But I don't care if others do wear Utilikilts. Whatever makes them happy.

Having been pretty busy for the last three weeks and only managing to dip in and out from time to time, I've obviously missed something regarding Robbie
I'll continue to search for the post that upset him.
My point though is this. He has precons for making the big exit when things haven't suited. I'm pretty sure he left Tom's or Kiltmen.com for much the same reason.
As for David's comments, I think he is being a little unfair in suggesting this site should only be about 'guys wanting to be Scottish'. I'm a trad. man myself and always consider the traditional look of the kilt. That's because of where I live. I've been brought up with the idea of certain traditions and witness them first hand.
Now you 'yanks' (he he ) are far enough removed to be able to evolve those traditions into something else, whilst still keeping the 'spirit' of what the kilt is and what it represents. I find that interesting. I may not always agree with how you look, but wouldn't walk out on you for it.
It's a shame Robbie and David have made the decision not to post here anymore. Even though I have stood my ground over an opinion, I have learnt things from both and respect their expertise and experience. I would have loved to have met and spent some time in the company of both.
As for changing the name - Hank, don't you dare even consider it. 8)

I am a bit of a traditionalist, but open minded enough to not be limited. I don't think that I am a utilikilt kinda guy; but I love my Buzz Kidder canvas kilt. Its unconventional in material but is more conventional in design. Thats why my next order will be for a Victory from Rocky & Kelly.

"What I cannot abide is the non-conformist in our society who is just as intolerant as the "conformist" he attacks. One cannot preach "tolerance" of non-conformist actions or beliefs and then say, "you must conform to my way of non-conformist way of thinking".

You hit the nail right on the head, sir! This discussion is silly. Respect other opinions or don't, but let it go!
Hank, don't change a thing. There is probably a little Scots blood in everyone by now!
I've survived DAMN near everything

alaskan celt quote...LETS KEEP THE DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT, and all of us learn not to be too sensitive to opposition and realize that it is the ISSUE not the INDIVIDUAL that is being debated.
you hit the other nail on the head.

So the more whisky you drink - the more scottish you become, is that right?
