An acquaintance of mine made reference to my 'quilt' recently - it was a complimentary remark made in passing, so I took it in the spirit it was meant and didn't interrupt the conversation to correct her. It's sort of like when people blithely keep calling your dog/horse/goat "he" even after you correct them with "she"... it's a detail that obviously doesn't matter to them, so as irksome as it can be it's not worth belaboring the point.

I think it's easy to forget that even for people who know a thing or two about them, kilts occupy a very tiny portion of their consciousness... in Riverkilt's case it sounds like the lady's brain dug into its "highly specific types of skirts" compartment and grabbed whatever was on top.

Maybe Ron in a tutu was wishfull thinking on the gals part.
She had to have been at a loss for the noun and, as said before, grabbed the first thing that popped up betwixt her ears with no sanity check.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.
