Newbie question - I am doing this right?

Well done Army you are really doing well, but let's learn to walk before starting on the sprint! The hose that you have in mind are fine and they almost match the sofa!

Might I suggest you start with a plain colour hose from top to bottom, so as not to confuse your novice eyes and brain.How about starting with a dark claret colour, nothing bright, nothing too flashy, but a distinct contrast. I think you will surprise yourself! Go on give it a go. Failing that, dark bottle green will give a rather less adventurous contrast for you to try.

My tartan is much like yours and claret is one of my favorite colours for kilt hose and maybe if you look around some of my old threads you may get an idea from some of the pictures that you will not be struck down by lightening should you try to be a tadd more adventurous.

Thanks Jock Scot... but make no mistake, my novice eyes and brain are already confused. This not being to "matchy" but also looking well put together is not an easy concept for my North American sensibilities. I am very glad to have all the help figuring it out though.
