I have heard on several occasions that anyone can wear any tartan regardless of family - if it is worn proudly and not disgraced. The kilts I have were purchased more on the basis of color and style rather than by title. I am not fond of the Loud McLeod or the Buchanan, so I don't have either. I prefer a predominantly darker or subdued tartan (black, green, brown or blue)to a brightly colored (red or yellow) one. This is my personal preference and I applaud those that can wear the brighter colors. Regardless, wear it with pride.
