I have just seen this myself.
I was about to post the link but you beat me to it.
I had to say that when I was initially notified of this group by a Facebook friend I did not take the idea seriously, however I went over for a look and as there some influential names posting to that group, who knows, they just might be able to make something happen.

Well, looks like the National Trust of Scotland has stepped in to have a Clan Village at the Bannockburn 700. Click here.

It would certainly seem to be more promising, although I note they didn't say that it was going to be a gathering. No big march mentioned. It seems as though it will be a cross between a ren faire, battle re-enactment and a clan village. Sounds like a good day out. Would I travel from the four corners of the globe? Mmmm........... I would have to seriously think about that. Perhaps more info will be added and maybe plans may develop so that it becomes what we all hope. I take the previous points about the financial concerns over the 2009 Gathering, lets hope that with the National Trust for Scotland involved that this event gets the support it so richly deserves.
Friends stay in touch on FB simon Taylor-dando

Phil, I've seen several references to this stated by folks in this thread. Can you elaborate a little on it? What do you mean by "left to suffer losses"? Was this just a case of them not selling enough of their wares to make a profit and being left disappointed? Or were they somehow taken advantage of?

Tobus,
As Phil has not replied as yet, try this: Google, Lord Jamie Sempill and on my computer the second thread down is "How the Gathering peer wanted to organise follow-up". In there you will have all the answers you need.

If you were not meaning "my" post, then I apologise for getting it wrong.
