I can't find any official reference to a Grey Stewart tartan. I'm interested because I have a flannel shirt that looks identical to this tartan (from memory, anyway), and it would be nice to know if it's an official tartan or just a 'bumbee' tartan.
There are a couple Stewart variants that look close to this one, but it's missing certain pieces. For example, it's similar to the Hay-Stewart tartan but it doesn't have the red lines in the grey field. It's also similar to the Dress Stewart tartan, but with grey instead of white (and possibly the deletion of the outside blue lines). It also looks like it could be a variant of Black Stewart, with the black field changed to grey, and missing the solo blue stripes.
But I really can't pin it down as any specific tartan, and can't find Grey Stewart in any register. Is this just an informal name?
