			That pocket reflex

Now don't laugh........One of the things I find difficult ; being at the moment a part time wearer of the kilt is this,
I'm often at a loss to know what to do with my hands.."
Get to the back Rufus. I heard you sniggering." That goes for you too Bubba.
You know that little reflex you have of putting your hands in your pocket when not thinking.Makes my wife laugh if she sees it.Does this reflex dissappear when going full time
Did any of you full-timers experience this They say if you loose a leg you can still feel it. What about missing four pockets ?...Thats you aswell Graham get to the back and sit next to Hamish whoose just collapsed in fit's.
(I know ther are utility kilts with umpteen but they are non-tartan so not in the loop here.)

I think it's an area of kilting not explored before. Any help with this new found affliction I've got would be of help....Don't send money I've no pockets

			pockets...

					Freelander,
Never thought about that before...I was always raised that you weren't supposed to go around with your hands in your pockets, guess it comes from my Dad's time in service. In Highland day "kit" I usually carry some sort of walking stick which keeps one hand occupied at least.

I suppose you could carry a "swagger stick", but some might think you a wee bit odd...

 Cheers (b)!

Hah! I SO know what you're talking about! For a long time, I did that every ten seconds. It lessened over time and I got into the habit of noticing I was doing it. Halfway through the motion, I'd change it to a brushing off of imaginary specs or tugging the edges of the front apron. Now I hook my thumbs in my belt and strike a pose.
I find a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other obviates the problem.

I've noticed the same thing. I sometimes find myself hooking my thumbs on my belt, but my wife says I look like I'm posing for the cover of some swashbuckler romance novel. Worse yet I've caught myself about to rest my hands against the sporran, I think that would look real bad, especially at church. Taking up a musical instrument or carrying a walking stick would give us something to do with our hands but I think the real problem is in our heads! If we truly get comfortable with ourselves we won't be fidgeting and worring about where to put our hands.

I usually hook my thumbs in my belt or cross my arms across my chest. Yeah, it kinda makes me look like a badass but it does discourage the younger teens from flapping their lips.

 NO ONE!
also try this one hand on the buckle and the other over that hand.nice n casual.while walking I put one hand down the back waist band of my kilt palm out, the other is usually holding the wifes hand.

I did that the first few times i wore my kilt for the length of the day. I found myself thinking like episcopalscot mentioned being in the miltary and not being allowed to have your hands in your pockets. I usualy just do the hands on hips feet slightly wider then shoulder with for standing and if walking... well i still curve my fingers into a fist out of habbit from the military.
