I gotta say it again. This man makes quality goods. Yesterday I was at work, wearing my RKilt British Rebel Tan leather kilt. I'm sitting in a long boring 3 hour training on cultural sensitivity. Boring because it was a rehash of the usual training that's required year after year.

So my mind wanders down to the apron of my leather kilt. And I'm looking at it - the quality of the leather. I know Robert doesn't grow and harvest his own leather - but he buys the best at the leather store. I'm looking at the quality of the stitching and the quality thread. I'm feeling really good about wearing this quality garment.

Then some doubts creep in....Ron, you paid a LOT...for this kilt. It was expensive. And then I look back at the leather...yes, its expensive - but its the best...and the value is there. I feel glad I sprung for this kilt. I love the feel of it, I love the function of it, I love how it fits me, I love how all my stuff fits in the cargo pockets....

When it comes to contemporary kilts I think leather - quality leather - is the best. Its a perfect foul weather kilt. It stands up to everything and it looks sharp. And its a great fair weather kilt too...shines in the sun. People are gonna comment - "Is that leather?" Then always a positive follow up...Wow...How cool...its beautiful...

And Robert's claim to fame as a craftsman is that other folks have made a go at making leather kilts. Utilikilts comes and goes with their efforts. Other companies give it a shot. Robert has it down cold. And its back to the basics of kiltmaking - one of the reasons his quality and value is so high is that he sews these kilts himself. No contract out, no middleman. We go directly to the craftsman/artist just like with a hand sewn wool tank. Only instead of following tradition like with wool kilts, Robert created his leather kilt designs by taking traditions - if there is a contemporary kilt tradition - and improving it.

If you ever have the interest and the money/credit line at the same time - order up. You'll be glad you did.

Ron,
The leather I used for your kilt was tanned in Argentina. I have found them to produce the best hides for my purpose. I also hand pick the hides. It's become a ritual at the supplier. I go through bundles of hides, checking not only for quality but size of the hide for the best yield. It takes time but is well worth the effort. Pleased you are enjoying the British Rebel Tan leather kilt.
