    Everything he's wearing looks like it's supposed to be riding gear (and indeed I see out-of-focus horses in the background), so those are just the patterned tops of his riding boots.

    Thomas: Re: the riding outfit. That's really cool. But I don't like it for two reasons. One, cropped tops and high waists tend not to look right on men. (The ladies tend to be curvier than us, and I think that combination accentuates those curves) whereas this really does nothing for the straight, male figure. And second, the bottom of a necktie should never protrude from underneath your waistcoat, or coatee in this case.

    Personally, if I were offered this outfit to wear, I would take the riding pants as-is (I really like them), wear the coatee but only if it were in a different pattern/color, exchange the tie for a bow tie, lose the gaiters, lose the gloves, and the jury is still out on the hat...

    Oh, and I would absolutely, definitely take the dog!!!

    I agree though, if those are houndstooth hose he's carrying in his hand -- cool! I do think it's a scarf though.
