Ha from the thread title I thought it was one of those threads about all the random stuff we carry around in our cases besides the pipes themselves!
As to pipes, mine are c1900 Lawries, ebony, ivory, and "German silver". Lawrie made large numbers of these pipes over the years, usually seen with that same thistle pattern.
These pipes came with a 1960s Hardie chanter which had been fitted with a more or less matching sole, the chanter seen in the photos. They came with a non-matching vintage blowpipe, cracked.
These pipes are the best players I've ever had, probably. Fitted with Kinnairds in the drones and a Begg sheepskin bag they strike in effortlessly... I can't get a bad strikein if I try. And I don't have to think about the cutoff in the band... you can just lift your arm off and even if there's some air in the bag the things just stop clean. Amazing. (Once you go with sheepskin there's no going back.)
Plus they have a big fat tone and are very stable.
For chanters I have the McCallum band chanter with a Ross reed which plays great. Plus a McCallum 466 chanter for church gigs.
