Window Rock, Arizona

Most of you know I work for the Navajo Nation. In Window Rock today for an all day meeting that fortunately ended a bit early so I could get over to the Tribal Veteran's Park next to the Council chambers. In this cold windy weather I wore my new RKilts British Rebel Tan leather kilt.

And the pleat shot on a windy day.

Obviously, that's Window Rock itself in the background. Statue is the Navajo Code Talker memorial.

Hey Riverkilt! What a bit of nostalgia. I'm an old guy (63) but, I spent a week on an Indian reservation at Window Rock when I was 16 YO. Long story but, what a great experience I had and in such a beautiful part of our country.

Not sure you can still do it, but you have not lived until you spent a day, in August, at Window Rock. The temps hovering about 100. Standing in the window rock itself. The wind blowing through makes it the only cool place in sight.

Haven't done it in a kilt though.

don't know that the town of Window Rock has changed much since the 60s....think I've seen folks up there Steve...ain't had the hankerin' myself. Found a case from a rifle round at the park. Guessing from a firing squad doing honors. The vet's cemetery up the road is a forest of flags. Serious stuff around here.
