Thanks Paulhenry. In doing some quick googling, I found that there is also the Ancient variant that the OP's kilt is reportedly done in. In looking at Lochcarron's site they don't have any of them listed in the strome weight, but did find it on the Scotweb site. Can you shed some light on what mill the tartan is from, and it's weight?

    Thanks so much.

Both are in the same swatch book from Lochcarron and both in Strome weight

just for the record, I took both pictures in daylight, with no colour adjustment, it's something I do a lot of fro my clients, so apart from monitor resolutions being different , the values between the two remain constant.

Paulhenry yours look correct. Desertwolfs make me wonder as the spread to the right is not over exposed and has a yellow shift. Wondering if it is a cream color or whether the digital camera made it that way. All digital cameras have to correct the color and saturation coming from the sensors.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Sorry paulhenry, I was asking if you could load a photo of the Ancient and the Weathered together to avoid different cameras at different settings. Like you did with the Modern and Weathered, only with the Ancient and Weathered. I am hoping you have a swatch book with both of those in it. If not, I'll just have to google around some more to see if I can catch them together.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Sorry** APOLOGY**
I don't know what I was thinking , the two tartans are MODERN and ANCIENT. ignore my comments about weathered, I'm not sure where I got the weathered from...
so I'm sorry for misleading everyone, I will correct the earlier posts!

tundramang, yes that is better, though in person the colors are even more muted. I think a lot of the problem is the CFL lights in the bedroom.

Desertwolf, I did the same - installed "green" circleline FL fixtures everywhere here. Nice for electric bill, but hell on the digital cameras color perception and software. It's why so many of my inside photos include my kitchen in the background - I am using my skylight in the dining room as the main light source. I can back up slightly to blue shift the colors from inclusion of the kitchen FL lamps when needed for the overcast days. Tis easyier here than messing with the camera settings.

I have noticed that the colors really change inperson between outside and inside. My modern SOS is almost colorlessly dark under the inside FL lights. But boy! they really pop when I go outside with it on.
